Puzzle of "Madness" ("Szal") by Wladyslaw Podkowinski, 1894 oil, from the collection in the National Museum in Krakow (Muzeum Narodowe w Krakowie). When Podkowinski painting was on exhibit in Warsaw, in rage over the great public controversy, he took his knife and destroyed his own work. After his death the painting was restored.
