ALINA ZERANSKA grew up in Warsaw where she learned Polish cooking and entertaining from her mother. She attended the Sorbonne in Paris where she studied journalism and the history of art. After emigrating to America, she perfected her writing at Penn State University, then began a career as a journalist, radio script writer, and lecturer.

For more than twenty years, Mrs. Zeranska has been editing the family page of the Canadian Polish-language paper, The Alliancer, and was a correspondent for the Voice of America radio network. She wrote a book of anecdotes and recipes, Continental Entertaining, and a collection of short stories. She now lives in McLean, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., with her husband Ludwik.
