The Lighthouse Blown-Glass Ball Ornament Series are intricate renditions of American Scenery with the design concept to 'capture and celebrate moments in time' within these handmade treasures. This ball ornament characterizes the historic Peggys Point Lighthouse located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia in Canada. The classic 50 ft. tall octagonal white concrete tower with a red lantern was built in 1914 replacing the previous wooden lighthouse constructed in 1868. As one of the highlights in Nova Scotian tourism, today the operational lighthouse functions also as a small village post office during the summer months for visitors.
