An artist from Rzeszow created this deeply carved wooden icon of the Black Madonna (Matka Boska Częstochowa). Unlike most carved icons, the carving presented here is up to 0.5" deep in certain spots, which makes this Black Madonna much more three dimensional. Gold accents highlight the Black Madonna's crown, halo, veil outline and stars, and undershirt neckline, as well as the Baby Jesus' halo, shirt neckline, and bible pages.
