The seat of Poland's Kings for the first 600 years, Wawel castle is a marvel to behold. Situated on the banks of the Wisla river, the castle is such a historic landmark, that when the Nazis invaded Cracow they had standing orders not to damage anything. Cracow remained mostly structurally undamaged during World War II, but there was a lot of looting that took place.
