Jan Dobrogost Krasinski was the mayor of Warsaw during the late 17th century. He commissioned Andreas Schluter (a very talented sculptor) to provide reliefs for the building, which took over 13 years to build. It became Mayor Krasinski's residence. Today, it is one of Warsaw most beautiful buildings, and houses the National Library of Poland.
