The Pensive Christ (Frasobliwy) subject image is a Christian icon, which depicts Jesus shortly before his crucifixion in weighted thought with his hand supporting his head that is already burdened by the Crown of Thorns. The image is more common in sculpture than in painting with the first know representation created during the latter half of the 14th century from northern German sculptures who referred to the figure form as "Christus im Eland" ("Christ in Distress").Mr. Tadeusz Zarzycki, an artist graduate of the Kenar Art School in Zakopane Poland, was commissioned by us to make these hand carvings. His work has been shown at numerous exhibitions throughout Europe and in the U.S. His very characteristic carving style and tedious workmanship makes these sculptures a unique centerpiece to display. Wood Figure measures: approx. 11" Tall
