In the booklet you will find the complete works of Frederyk Chopin in new recordings on historical instruments. These recordings are made on historical instruments from Chopin's times belonging to The Frederyk Chopin Institute: an Erard piano, built in Paris in 1849, and a Pleyel, from 1848. They are excellently preserved examples, meeting all concert hall requirements. The new recordings of Chopin's works on these instruments allow contemporary listeners to discover the historical models, bringing us closer to the original, and also the longforgotten sound of the Romantic era.The performers are an international group of pianists renowned for their outstanding interpretations of Chopin's music.
The disc features new recordings of the Chopin concertos performed on period instruments, documenting two outstanding artistic moments in the festival Chopin and his Europe. Dang Thai Son, winner of the Tenth Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, is accompanied by Frans Bruggen's Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century-a legendary ensemble restoring to music its authentic sound.
