The Lighthouse Blown-Glass Ball Ornament Series are intricate renditions of American Scenery with the design concept to 'capture and celebrate moments in time' within these handmade treasures. This ball ornament characterizes the historic Block Island Southeast Light located on the southeastern shore of Block Island, Rhode Island. Constructed in 1875 in the Victorian Gothic style, the 67 ft. tall brick octagonal tower lies connected to a 2.5 story keepers residence. Due to fierce erosion, in 1993 the lighthouse was relocated 360 ft. from the edge of the Mohegan Bluffs. The Southeast Light still acts as an active navigational aid to sea vassals and contains a museum for tourists open during the summer season.
